Pterinopelma sazimai is also known as the Brazilian Blue and is known for it's beautiful blue coloration as adults. Generally the females seem to sport a much more vibrant blue coloration then the males. Starting out as brown slings and slowly the blue starts to come in over several molts. Due to the decline in it's natural habitat and over collecting for the pet trade it is very important to get captive bred instead of wild caught specimens of this species.

 

Ours was captive bred and the seventh addition to our collection. It spends more of it's time in it's burrow then exploring the rest of it's enclosure.
